Peregrine Keto & Paleo Bars Review

Disclaimer: Peregrine Keto Bars have been provided to me for the purpose of this review as a free sample. This has not influenced my review and the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I am not affiliated with Peregrine Keto Bars.

One of the most challenging parts of following any diet is to figure out what to eat when you are busy or travelling. I usually carry a bag of nuts, beef jerky or avocados. Keto-friendly bars were never my favourite option and most products I've seen were either high in carbs or included ingredients I wanted to avoid.

In this review I'd like to share my thoughts on Peregrine who make keto & paleo, travel-friendly bars. The company was crated by Rudy and Katherine, a couple passionate about health and nutrition and based in Colorado.

What are Peregrine Bars Made With?

Peregrine bars are made with healthy organic ingredients: macadamia nuts, 100% pastured chicken egg (no grain or soy feed), unsweetened huila cocoa, organic unsweetened coconut flakes, pecans, chia seeds, grass-fed ghee, unrefined coconut oil, grass-fed collagen, lime juice, smyrna figs, vanilla extract, Himalayan pink salt, cayenne pepper, stevia leaf.

The bars can be kept at room temperature for up to a week, two months in the fridge, and one year in the freezer.

How Many Carbs per Bar?

Peregrine bars are low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats. One bar will be enough as a quick snack or a light meal.

Nutrition facts per serving (55 g): Total carbs: 8 g, Fiber: 5 g, Net carbs: 3 g, Protein: 6 g, Fat: 27 g, Saturated fat: 12 g, Energy (calories): 270 kcal, Magnesium: 63 mg (16% RDA), Potassium: 188 mg (9 % EMR). Calories from carbs: 4%, protein: 9%, fat: 87%.

Not a Sweet Treat But a Meal Replacement

These bars can be used as a meal replacement or a quick snack on the go. They are not sweet like most chocolate treats and they won't satisfy your sweet cravings. It's a healthy meal replacement that will keep hunger at bay.

My favourite treat is 90% dark chocolate and I found these bars to have the perfect balance of sweetness which is very subtle. I like the mild spicy kick and the tangy lime. The first ingredient are macadamia nuts which are delicious and high in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats.

If you like extra dark chocolate, then you will like these bars. My advice is that unless you have been sugar-free & keto for at least 4 weeks, Peregrine is probably not for you. You may simply find it too bitter.

One bar is enough for a light meal or as a pre or post workout snack. Since 87% of calories come from fats and only 9% from protein, I wouldn't have more than one bar per day to ensure you are meeting your protein target.

According to Peregrine:

"This is not a sweet treat - it's high-fat performance fuel! If you don't love dark chocolate, you'll want to approach this one with caution. It gets its flavor from bitter cacao, tangy lime and spicy cayenne - not from added sugars or artificial sweeteners of any kind. It's made entirely from real ingredients, each one intentionally selected to boost your performance and make you more awesome."
